Shallipopi Breaks Ties with Dapper Music, Claims Breach of Trust by Label

After nearly three years of collaboration, Shallipopi and Dapper Music have officially ended their partnership.

The hitmaking rapper revealed his split from the popular record label, with whom he signed in 2022 after breaking into the mainstream. In an Instagram post on December 11, 2024, Shallipopi shared the news, citing a breach of trust and lack of transparency as the primary reasons for his decision.

This confirmation comes following Shallipopi’s decision to unfollow Dapper Music founder and CEO, Damilola Akinwunmi, on Instagram.

In his announcement, Shallipopi referred to the decision as the toughest he’s ever had to make, emphasizing that it represents a fight for all creators who dedicate themselves to their craft.

“I come before you with a heavy heart but an unyielding resolve. I’m Crown Uzama, your Shallipopi, and today I am making one of the hardest choices of my career. I am officially ending my agreements with Dapper Music and Dapper Digital. This wasn’t a decision I took lightly, but it became necessary after my trust was broken, my finances mishandled, and my rights as an artist disregarded.

This decision is about more than just me. It’s for every artist and creator who invests their heart and soul into their work, only to be betrayed and exploited by those who should have their backs. It’s about standing up for fairness, integrity, and the respect that all of us deserve.”
