“Apki has been granted bail by the court” – Stanley Alieke

After over a month in prison, popular rapper Darlington Achakpo, also known as Speed Darlington, was released on bond, according to Stanley Alieke, his attorney.

On Monday, Alieke revealed this on his Instagram account.

Without providing much details, he said, “Akpi has been granted bail.”

While playing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, on November 27, the rapper was taken into custody.

His arrest was linked to initial squabble with sensational artist, Burnaboy.

Deji Adeyanju, Darlington’s attorney, likewise confirmed Burna Boy’s involvement in his detention.

Darlington had made fun of Burna Boy for having ties to the troubled American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is accused of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

This event led to his first arrest. But the singular event did not seem to calm down Speedy, who promised to not back down on calling out Burna Boy because of his association with Sean ‘Diddy’.

Adeyanju, Darlington’s attorney, had earlier stated that the singer would either be released on bail or arraigned within 48 hours.

“Our FREP application for Speed Darlington a.k.a has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hours or released. Issues around injustice may take time but justice will always prevail,” he wrote.
