Enugu Police Crush Kidnap Gang, Recover Weapons and Stolen Items

During a series of raids, the Enugu State Police Command successfully disassembled a known kidnapping gang, collecting weapons, ammunition, military uniforms, and stolen goods, including a car.

DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the Command, stated that the discovery was made as part of heightened security during the holiday season.

On the basis of intelligence, a joint police squad from Nsukka Area Command searched the hideaway of a kidnapping ring in the Nru hamlet of Nsukka on December 15. A loaded revolver pistol, a cut-to-size single-barrel gun, live rounds, military camouflage clothes, a Moniepoint point-of-sale machine, and ATM cards were left behind when the gang fled under intense police fire after engaging policemen in a gunfight.

The command also detained suspects in auto theft and burglary in other operations:

Four burglars were apprehended on November 14 in GRA, Enugu, and phones, laptops, and bicycles that had been taken were found.

A guy was arrested earlier in December after he stole a red Volkswagen Passat from a church in Coal Camp, Enugu. The suspect admitted to the crime, and the stolen vehicle was found.

Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, the Commissioner of Police, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to maintaining public safety over the holiday season. He asked everyone to remain vigilant.
