Trump is expected to meet with Putin as soon as possible following his inauguration

Meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is high on the agenda for US President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda following his inauguration on January 20.

My meeting with Putin is imminent; I know he wants to meet. If you could have gotten into the office earlier, I would have completed it. In an interview with Newsmax, Trump stated, “You do have to be there” for some things.

Although Trump had previously stated that the meeting would not take place before his inauguration, he had been mum about the exact date and time of the gathering in January.

While no specific arrangements have been finalized, there is a “very, very necessary and advisable” desire to begin talks, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who made the statement on Monday.

The two presidents may soon have a phone conversation, according to Mike Waltz, who is serving as Trump’s national security advisor designate.

On November 5, 2024, Americans went to the polls to choose their next president. Major networks announced that Trump, the Republican nominee and former president (2017–2021), had won. Democratic challenger Kamala Harris withdrew from the contest.

Congress ratified the results on January 6, 2024, after the Electoral College finalized them on December 17, 2024. On January 20, Trump will be inaugurated.
