Yuletide: Troops Neutralize Notorious Terrorist Commander Linked to Sokoto Monarch’s Murder

Troops operating in Nigeria’s North West have neutralized Bako Wurgi, a notorious terrorist commander linked to the murder of a Sokoto monarch and closely associated with infamous terrorist Bello Turji.

During a recent gun battle, Wurgi sustained gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries. According to Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, Wurgi provided critical intelligence to support ongoing military operations before his death.

Addressing the heightened security concerns during the festive season, Major General Buba assured the public of the military’s preparedness:
“Troops are on high alert and have enhanced their readiness to counter terrorist aggression during the yuletide. Robust operations targeting terrorist leadership are ongoing across multiple theatres of operations.”

In a related development, troops in the North Central region apprehended two high-profile terrorists, Hamisu Sale, also known as “Master,” and Abubakar Mohammed. Both detainees are reportedly cooperating with authorities, offering valuable insights into the terror network’s activities.
